The airport lies eight miles (13km) away from the capital, Ashgabat.
Getting to the cityTaxis are the cheapest and easiest way to get into central Ashgabat from the airport. Passengers should settle on a price before leaving, though, as drivers are likely to ask for too much. Buses 1, 18 and 58 leave from outside the airport and go into the centre of Ashgabat. Travellers should note that note that many planes land in the middle of the night, so buses may not be running when they arrive.
